Land Quality Statement

A Land Quality Statement is similar in form to a Phase I Desktop Study, and shares its broad objective of providing an initial assessment of environmental risk with regard to a site.

The information obtained from an in-house information database as well as from third parties, such as the relevant Water Supply provider, the British Geological Survey (BGS) and DEFRA, may be combined in the Land Quality Statement (LQS) with a non-intrusive site inspection (site audit), and an examination of available sources such as previous site investigation reports.

In some cases, a Land Quality Statement may include enquiries to the Planning, Environmental Health and Building Control departments of the relevant Local Authority, in order to provide a detailed overview of potential contamination issues and to attribute the site with a level of environmental risk.
